2nd Line Desktop Support - Investments

At this company a 2nd Line Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining all aspects of the firms technology. This includes daily support tickets, desktop troubleshooting, account management, hardware/software installation and upgrades, new PC build outs and desk relocations and dealing with all members of staff on a daily basis which requires the highest level of presentation, communication and professionalism.

Its a comfortable 7 hour working day with no unsociable shift patterns to contend with.


Responsibilities & skills:

  • Microsoft Windows 7/8/10, installation, use and troubleshooting
  • Microsoft Office 2007-2016, installation, use and troubleshooting
  • Creating and administration of user accounts (Active Directory) and mailboxes (Exchange)
  • Reinstalling Operating Systems with imaging software
  • Understanding of two-factor authentication, particularly RSA administration
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts and troubleshooting
  • Usage of IT Service Desk software to track user incidents
  • Basic Avaya system administration; extension, voicemail box creation and troubleshooting
  • Using Antivirus and malware software to clean PCs
  • Mobile device management including Blackberry Enterprise Server 5/12 and Airwatch
  • Troubleshooting mobile phone devices including Blackberry’s, iPhones and Androids
  • Video Conferencing setup and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work outside of standard business hours if needed for moves and relocations from time to time.



  • Own Limited Company (or happy to set one up)
  • Soft skill set capable of handling high profile end users with professionalism.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and phone manner.
  • Excellent ability to follow directions and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office
  • Intermediate knowledge of one or more mobile operating systems
  • Able to set up a broadband router and wireless access point
  • Able to detect and clean malware from a PC
  • Able to install Windows from scratch
  • General interest and savviness in technology
  • University degree preferably, with 2-4 years’ experience in a technical, customer facing role.
