Great opportunity for a Management Accountant to work with an organisation based in Burgess Hill.

Our client is looking for a Financial Controller to lead the finance team on a 3 month initial contract with the potential to extend. If successful, you will have the opportunity to work from home as well as flexible working hours.

You may have worked as a Financial Controller, Management Accountant, Head of Finance, Finance Manager or similar.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Acting as the single point of contact for preparation of the year end accounts
  • Preparing year end and managing year end processes
  • Responsible for integrity of accounting
  • Proactive commercial support to commercial and operational teams and areas such as bidding and business development
  • Maintenance of the internal control environment
  • Lead the annual external audit process
  • Tax compliance, including VAT, Corporation tax, CIS
  • Cash management, especially minimizing levels of accrued income and ensuring effective credit control
  • Provide a check and balance on monthly contract valuations by supporting and challenging the commercial teams on their assumptions
  • Managing a team of 4-5 staff
  • Overseeing supplier payments
  • Management of accounts payable function

 

SKILLS REQUIRED:

 

  • Previous working knowledge of Navision / Microsoft Dynamics (NAV) (or similar e.g. Sage) - General Ledger, Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • Familiar with management of nominal codes, running trial balances, balance sheets, journals, prepayments and accruals
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Being very comfortable using IT systems and Microsoft Office – you’ll need to have particularly strong Excel skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Smart, thorough, technical and detail orientated
  • IT skills and technical knowledge
  • Ability to solve problems and use initiative
  • Being highly numerate
  • Demonstrating the ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally
