MEET OUR NEW APPRENTICE - CHRIS SINDEN

Chris Sinden, 22, joined Bowers Partnership in September 2018 and is studying for his Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship. QA Apprenticeships caught up with him to find out what motivates, inspires and drives him.

Chris says: "I have always had a passion for technology and social media, so implementing that into a job was perfect for me."

How did you get into digital?

"I have always had a passion for technology and social media and digital marketing really stood out for me. Even though I had minimal experience in this field, having the passion meant I was willing to learn and try my absolute hardest to do well in my apprenticeship."

Do you feel a lot of pressure to deliver and prove yourself now that you chose a different route than most people your age?

"Not at all. I feel that choosing this career path is going to really help me out for the future. I understand that in order to get to where I want to be, I need to work hard and put the effort in."

What does being an Apprentice mean to you?

"The apprenticeship allows me to learn everything whilst still being hands-on with the role. University didn’t appeal to me but an apprenticeship did because you get that work experience and on-the-job training. I found this Digital Marketing role with Bowers Partnership and I knew it was perfect for me – everyone is flexible, they allow me to work on my studies during work hours and attend weekly visits to London to study more."

Tell me a bit about your responsibilities and the company you work for.

"I work for the Bowers Partnership – a specialist recruitment consultancy, delivering contract recruitment services to UK based FTSE clients and recruitment services and support to specialist candidates and IT Contractors.

My main responsibilities involve managing our Twitter page - we have various social media platforms including two Twitter pages (@BowersPartners and @insurtechrec). Other current duties include monitoring SEO and web analytics, email marketing, sharing content via our website and engaging our candidate base via digital campaigns and platforms."

What's the work culture like?

"The vibe here is fantastic. Everyone has a great attitude and are friendly and supportive towards one another. We all value each other’s opinions and beliefs, it’s a great work environment to be in."

Best project you worked on?

"My best project so far would be assisting my colleague to craft a compelling job advert and working on the SEO to better improve the audience reached. We posted the advert and it appeared at the top of all the results."

Who are your favourite influencers right now?

"My favourite influencers right now would probably be companies such as Apple and Microsoft. Although they sell such quality products/services, half of their success is down to their digital marketing strategies and how they put themselves out there compared to other companies."

What’s next for you?

"My aim would be to confidently manage all social media platforms here and to be involved with the growth of digital marketing. Digital marketing is only thriving and having an interest in the film industry means I can use this to create videography work for the business in the future, helping to grow their brand awareness and social presence."
